What is a Mind Map?

A visual tool used to:

  • organise information
  • show relationships
  • generate ideas

You need to know about three types:

  • library mind map
  • presentation mind map
  • tunnel mind map

Library Mind Map

Description:
A library mind map is used to group lots of ideas or information into different categories, like books in a library.

Usage:
Useful for collecting and organising research or brainstorming ideas for a big project. Each branch can represent a different topic or theme.

    Start with the central idea in the middle of the diagram

Colours should also be used to show nodes which are in the same category

Usage:
Ideal when you are preparing to speak or present to others. It helps you stay on track and makes sure your audience can follow your points.

Tunnel Mind Map

Tunnel Mind Map Description:

A tunnel mind map shows a journey or process from start to finish, like going through a tunnel in one direction.

Colours and images make it interesting and appealing

Colours should also be used to show nodes which are in the same category

Usage:
Best used for planning events, time lines, or processes that follow a clear order, like planning a trip or writing a story.
